Kids graduating

Excitement was in the air on Tuesday, June 25, as the fifth graders of all three elementary schools processed into rooms filled with their families and teachers, their faces shining like morning stars, full of the promise of the day ahead.

Moving Up at Increase Miller, Katonah and Meadow Pond Elementary Schools are exciting seasons, rich with traditions, outings and celebrations that culminate in ceremonies full of songs and special moments that mark the students' transition to middle school.

Through principals' reflections and parent-created slideshows, each student leaves with a sense of accomplishment, an abundance of memories, and wise words to carry into the future.

Increase Miller Elementary’s Fifth Grade Moving Up Ceremony was a sendoff and a celebration rich in school traditions.

From the event’s program, which featured word art of the fifth graders’ favorite elementary school memories, to Principal Kerry Ford’s remarks, structured as an alphabetical walk down memory lane, the rich fabric of student life at IMES was woven with good wishes for the future.

Singing together was another favorite memory of the students, and they shared it one last time, delighting all with the Beatles’ “Here Comes the Sun,” directed by music teacher April Higgins.

The Moving Up Ceremony was held in John Jay Middle School’s theater, a space they'd been to before but which now felt a bit different. While Increase Miller would always be part of them, this was their school now!
